Traceability

Regulation (EC) No 178/2002 “lays down the general principles and requirements of food law” within the European Community and “establishes the European Food Safety Authority” and, in the view of the European Parliament and the Council, “provides the basis for ensuring a high level of protection of human health and consumer interests in relation to food (…).

To safeguard the health and safety of our consumers, we have implemented specific procedures for the withdrawal and recall of potentially hazardous products and have acquired new equipment for labelling packaged products, in order to facilitate identification and traceability.

As well as ensuring that the journey of a food product can be traced and monitored through all stages of production, processing and distribution, our traceability system guarantees consumers the ability to trace the history of the products they have purchased, from the fishing vessel right through to the tins and jars on the shelves.

This enables us to:

  • simplify and speed up any product recalls or withdrawals in the event of a health alert or in the event of serious product defects;
  • provide consumers – who are increasingly discerning in this regard – with information on the canned raw material, in particular its origin.

The tuna we use is caught in FAO zones 51, 57, 71, 77, 81, 87, 34, 41, 47, 37 and 27.

On all our products, the FAO zone of origin of the fish is indicated on the packaging.

To find out the history of the products that end up on your table, simply provide us with the production batch number and a few other details that are easily found on the packaging.

Our product traceability system, thanks to modern labelling technologies for packaged products, enables us to provide our consumers with full information on the canned raw material, particularly regarding its origin. To find out the full history of the products that reach your table, simply complete the following form with the requested information, which can easily be found on the packaging.
